The game Myth of Empires will finally return to Steam in a few months thanks to the unexpected event that has been announced today.
Let’s get back to the past, because it has passed a lot of time. The multiplayer game in the genre of the military sandbox was published in the early access of Steam at the end of 2021, quickly gaining a positive reputation and many players. The game presented tactical battles, basement construction, NPC recruitment, horses taming, guild system, trading system, siege battles and much more. Myth of Empires also supported NVIDIA DLSS and ray tracing on the GEFORCE RTX video cards.
However, not even a month has passed since the game was unexpectedly deleted from Steam according to the suit of Snail Games for copyright protection. Then the developers from Angel Game promised that he would actively defend himself in court to restore the availability of the game in Steam. However, after almost two years, Myth of Empires is still available only through its own launch program (through the official website).
Everything will change in early 2024, since Snail Games and Angel Game announced the conclusion of a rather unique settlement agreement on their judicial dispute. The President of Angel Game and Ling Zheng (Yi Ling Zheng) said in his statement:
After almost two years of trial, we are happy to announce this amicable agreement for Snail, Angel and Studio WildCard. Angel recognizes that she has created difficulties for Snail. Thanks to joint work, Angel and Snail will leave these difficulties in the past. Angel regrets the difficulties that it created for Snail, and is looking forward to the start of business cooperation. At the same time, we hope that thanks to extensive user resources Snail and excellent relations with platforms built on the basis of Ark, they will be able to help us in our future publishing efforts and give Myth of Empires even more market dynamics.
As a result of the settlement agreement, Myth of Empires will return to the PC distribution platforms (including Steam) in early 2024, and its publisher will be Snail Games. In addition, Snail Games will participate in the global launch of the PlayStation consoles from Sony and Xbox from Microsoft (also planned at the beginning of next year), providing assistance in PR and marketing. And finally, Angel and Snail promised "Constant release" Additions and DLC for Myth of Empires.
