Having completed the World of Assassination trilogy, Hitman 3, Io Interactive sends a cult agent 47 for an indefinite break. CEO of Hakan Abrack and creative director Christian Elverdam talked about this a little more.

In a recent interview, the Danish studio confirmed its decision, announcing the desire to engage in other creative areas, recognizing the indelible heritage of the franchise. They do not want to leave agent 47 alone forever, but they want to focus on other projects that they have in the plans.

New chapters will still be written in Hitman’s history, but for now we will be happy to explore the new worlds and gameplay opportunities.

The decision to leave Hitman alone is a significant change for Io Interactive, for which Hitman has been synonymous for more than two decades. The series approved the studio as the leading developer of the Stlas-IGR with the open world, and Hitman 3 received positive reviews of critics for extensive levels and complex puzzles of murders. However, it seems that Hitman is entering during the waiting period.

Io Interactive has long announced its intention to expand her portfolio. The company’s immediate plans include two ambitious projects: Project 007, rethinking the history of James Bond, and Project Fantasy, online role -playing game in a completely new genre.

The success of the World of Assassination trilogy allowed us to take risks and increase our experience. In Project 007 and Project Fantasy, we strive to create exciting worlds and fascinating stories designed for different types of players.

The developers left the door open for future parts of the Hitman series. The franchise is too popular to quit it, but the possibilities of creating new worlds should be priority. In the meantime, Io Interactive enters the new chapter, leaving gamers and critics in anticipation of their following bold undertakings.
